Important functions of steam traps
When water and oxygen in the air come into contact with the equipment, chemical reactions will occur, causing iron to rust.
1. What is a steam trap?
A steam trap is a device designed on a device that requires steam, which can automatically discharge condensate, air and non-condensable gases from the steam system and prevent steam from being discharged.
2. Important functions of steam traps:
(1) It can quickly remove the generated condensate; (2) It can prevent steam leakage; (3) It can remove air and other non-condensable gases.
3. The necessity of removing condensate and air from steam-using equipment:
(1) Prevent water hammer: If there is condensate in the steam pipeline, the condensate will hit the pipe wall, valve and steam-using equipment strongly under the impetus of high-speed steam flow, causing damage or destruction to the pipe bends, valves and steam-using equipment.
(2) Prevent the reduction of the efficiency of steam-using equipment: Steam-using equipment (especially indirect heating equipment) is designed to effectively utilize the latent heat of steam. Excessive condensate retained in these devices in contact with the heating surface reduces the heating area and causes uneven heating up and down, which significantly reduces the efficiency of the equipment.
(3) Prevent corrosion inside steam-using equipment: When water and oxygen in the air come into contact with the equipment, chemical reactions will occur, causing iron to rust.
(4) Prevent damage to steam-using equipment: Due to the different temperatures of steam and water, the condensate in the equipment will generate a temperature difference in the local area of the equipment, causing temperature stress, thereby damaging the equipment.
IV. Specific requirements for the function, energy-saving measures, operation, maintenance and management of steam traps:
(1) No steam leakage when discharging condensate;
(2) All condensate can be discharged from any place in the steam system;
(3) Air and condensate can be discharged at the same time;
(4) Wide applicable pressure range;
(5) Easy to inspect and maintain: Simple structure, few moving parts;
(6) High practicality: Small size, light weight, long life, low price and no loss of discharge capacity due to air and steam.
